Many years ago, my husband and I had moved to Pennsylvania to raise a family in a wonderful wooded setting. After our first child was born, we decided to get a puppy. We read everything we could about this wonderful breed. About their health, caring for, and breeding. We never dreamed that they would bring us so much joy. Now we are currently owned by eight goldens. Please read the information below:
Their temperament is described as Intelligent, Courageous, Loyal, Friendly, Trustworthy and Devotion. Typical golden lives for his family, befriends the cats and neighborhood dogs, plays with the children and waits for the arrival of the school bus. Welcomes guests with a wagging tail, yet stands his ground when questionable strangers arrive. As a breed, they are not intended to be watch dogs, they do possess a keen awareness of the unusual and most will alert their owners when things seem wrong. They have distinguished themselves in police and rescue operations, they have been used in drug detection, avalanche rescue operations, they work well in tracing people or animals lost in snow and wilderness. Recently they have played an important role as service dogs for the handicapped and social dogs used in convalescent homes.
